Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a common disorder characterized by pauses in breathing during sleep. Sleep apnea prevents the sufferer from receiving the oxygen or the proper sleep that they desperately need.

Sleep apnea causes daily exhaustion, difficulty concentrating, and accident proneness. It is linked to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and depression.

Dr. Karen Williamson is passionate about helping patients overcome the symptoms and side effects of sleep apnea. She understands that conquering sleep apnea results in better sleep quality and perhaps even a longer and healthier life.

If you or your family members have noticed that you make snoring, choking, or gasping noises during sleep, come see Dr. Williamson for an accurate sleep apnea screening.

Sleep Disorder Screening

For your sleep apnea screening, you will complete questionnaires involving your sleep and family history to help Dr. Williamson learn about your risk factors. During your screening, she will review your questionnaires and perform an airway evaluation. She can help you identify any symptoms of sleep apnea and the cause of your disorder so that you can start working towards more restful sleep.

Patient Education

It is estimated that around 18 million patients suffer from sleep apnea. Many of these patients have no idea that their airways are collapsing throughout the night.

All patients deserve to wake up feeling refreshed and healthy. We educate patients about what sleep apnea is, the symptoms of sleep apnea, and different treatment options. We love answering patient questions and helping them decide which treatments are right for them.
