Versatile Veneers For A Vivid Smile

porcelain veneers Rockwall

Have you ever wished you could quickly attach perfectly shaped, dazzling white front surfaces to your teeth? Guess what? You can! With porcelain veneers, you can eliminate smile imperfections in just one visit to your outstanding Rockwall cosmetic dental office.

Simple procedure, dramatic results

The advanced porcelain veneer is one of the most versatile items in a cosmetic dentist’s toolbox. Veneers turn unattractive smiles into beautiful smiles with minimal disruption to the existing tooth structure. They are quicker and usually less pricey than complete crowns but are made with the same durable, translucent porcelain.

A celebrity smile secret

It’s no that wonder that a very large percentage of men and women in the public eye have porcelain veneers. An actress can receive a perfect smile in the morning and appear on a talk show that evening. A supermodel can permanently remedy a discolored tooth speedy and pose for photos right after leaving her dental office. A local television news anchor can have his teeth perfectly aligned in a couple of hours and report Texas news that same day.

Trust an experienced cosmetic dentist in Rockwall

I am Karen Williamson of Karen E Williamson D.D.S., P.A in Rockwall, Texas. I have carried out hundreds of veneer placements—alone and in combination with crowns, inlays/onlays, and tooth implants for dramatic smile makeovers. There Is Hope For Denture Wearers

Royse City tooth implants

The condition of your teeth has a considerable impact on your high quality of life. Denture wearers understand this all too well. The path from a healthy smile to a toothless mouth is downhill. Tooth decay and gum disease are painful. Treatment such as fillings and root canals can strain the budget. If the teeth can’t be saved, tooth extraction brings more physical and psychological pain. Extraction can result in bone recession.

The Drawbacks of Dentures

While dentures are better than having no teeth at all, they certainly come with a host of drawbacks. They can irritate gums and make breathing, eating, tasting food, talking, and laughing problematic. And dentures are not a once-and-your-done answer for missing teeth. As the jaw shrinks, they necessitate relines.

Stop The Progression

But there is hope on the horizon! Dental implant technology can improve the quality of life for people who have been wearing conventional dentures. To a certain extent, implants stop the downhill progression of declining oral health due to tooth loss.

Dental implants can be used to replace several teeth and/or anchor overdentures. Mini dental implants (also called denture-stabilization implants) allow your dentist to securely attach an appliance so that it won’t slip or irritate gums. Small titanium posts are placed into the jawbone and fuse with the surrounding bone, creating a durable base for an overdenture.

Restore Chewing Ability

Did you know that some denture wearers retain only ten percent of their chewing ability? Implant-supported dentures can halt bone recession and restore near-normal chewing ability. Improved chewing function with implants can result in better nutrition and overall physical health and vitality. The psychological benefits are equally valuable. When Karen E Williamson D.D.S., P.A patients are free of embarrassing denture-slipping, they are happier, more self-assured, and socialize more frequently.

Before you spend money on another denture reline, talk to your dentist about denture-stabilization implants.

Karen E Williamson D.D.S., P.A Patients Have A Choice In Dental Fillings

Rockwall Dental Patients Want A Choice In Dental Fillings

With all the talk in Rockwall of multi-procedure smile makeovers involving veneers, porcelain crowns, bridges, teeth whitening, dental implants, and invisible braces, sometimes the traditional dental filling is overlooked.

If a cavity progresses no further than a filling, Texas cosmetic dental patients can avoid more extensive and invasive treatments. Today, let’s talk about dental fillings.

Most dental patients in the Rockwall and Rockwall area have a few fillings in their mouths. When a tooth has been damaged through decay, a dental filling is the most common way Texas family dentists restore the tooth to its previous, intact condition.

Dental fillings have been used for over a hundred years, and they’ve come a long way from the silvery amalgam fillings many of us in the Royse City, Backland, and Heath, McLendon-Chisholm areas remember.

Rockwall cosmetic dentists and dental labs have been working to formulate filling materials that are more cosmetically pleasing to their Texas patients.

Today, the filling material of choice in Rockwall and around the country is a composite of plastic resin with glass or quartz filler. Referred to as composite fillings, Rockwall dental patients love the fact that they can be matched to their natural tooth color, making them practically invisible. This is particularly important when the filling needs to be in a conspicuous part of the mouth, such as the front teeth.

Despite the popularity of tooth-colored fillings, many Rockwall dentists still find amalgam fillings appropriate in some cases. Dental amalgam is made from a metal alloy, which gives it the ability to hold strong even when the chewing load is great.

I’m dentist Karen Williamson and I work hard to make sure each patient feels comfortable during their dental visit. I’ve practiced dentistry since 1993, and I find it especially rewarding when Royse City, Backland, and Heath,McLendon-Chisholm residents experience renewed confidence after a smile makeover.

Whether you are interested in replacing metal fillings with composites, or if you want to discuss tooth whitening and veneers, our staff would be happy to answer any questions you have.

Five Fast Ways to Improve Your Smile

cosmetic dental and implants Rockwall

Do you have a special event coming up? Perhaps a wedding, graduation, milestone birthday, anniversary, or reunion? These celebrations usually involve a lot of photographs and, of course, you want to look nice. You may not have time to lose 20 pounds, but you can significantly transform your smile with cosmetic dentistry.

Here are five cosmetic dental procedures that can usually be performed in one office visit.

1. Veneers
Porcelain veneers have been a successful treatment for decades but we never fail to be amazed by the outstanding results they deliver. A veneer is a super-thin layer of porcelain bonded permanently to the tooth. A veneer can cover a chip, hide a crack, make discoloration disappear, or fix a misshapen tooth.

2. Gum Contouring
Perhaps your teeth are beautiful and healthy but you have a gumline that is too low or too high and detracts from the presentation. Gum contouring can reshape the gumline and perfect your smile. Book a consultation with dentist Williamson today for an intensive examination and savvy guidance regarding your gumline.

3. Enamel Shaping
Just one slightly misshapen tooth can downgrade the characteristics of a smile even if all the other teeth have a pleasing appearance. (Your mouth is no place for a sore thumb, right?) Let dentist Williamson reshape the tooth so it blends in seamlessly.

4. Bonding
Dental bonding just gets better and better as additional advanced materials are developed. Bonding is used in a multitude of applications to fix teeth with cosmetic and structural issues. The newest prep processes are minimally invasive – leaving you with more of your own tooth structure.

5. Teeth Whitening
Make your smile pop with professional in-office teeth whitening. There is nothing like an outstanding white smile to give you complete confidence.

Cosmetic dentistry is an investment that will bless you with increased confidence every day. We look forward to getting your smile ready for all those hugs, laughs, and, of course, pictures.

How Does Your Overall Health Affect Your Smile?

Educating Rockwall Dental Patients About Little-Known Risks Hi! I’m dentist Karen Williamson, DDS. Most every day, I can be found at my Rockwall dental practice treating dental patients with tooth and gum problems or helping patients prevent them. There are many common medical conditions that pose a risk to oral health.

1) Rockwall diabetes patients with high blood glucose often have a higher risk of dental issues. If you have diabetes, let’s talk. My number is 469-402-0024.

2) A persistent dry mouth due to an inadequate amount of saliva can accelerate tooth decay, cause or contribute to gum disease, and trigger chronic bad breath. Many medications used by thousands of Royse City and Backland folks, including those for high blood pressure and depression, cause dry mouth. This side effect is not only unpleasant, but it is also dangerous. Anti-depressants (especially SSRI’s) and antipsychotic drugs can also trigger tooth-grinding (bruxism).

3) Acid reflux in children and adults is associated with a host of dental problems such as decay and periodontal disease.

I help many Heath, McLendon-Chisholm dental patients prevent problems associated with medical conditions that sometimes seem unrelated to dental health. Regular professional dental care is essential for oral health and an important part of your overall physical health.

porcelain crown Rockwall

When dentist Karen Williamson crowns one of our patients, the coronation is a celebration of a stronger smile.

The necessity of a dental crown is usually readily apparent. Based on how much tooth is available to hold in a filling, sometimes a crown is required to add more support and to keep the tooth from falling apart or breaking. Crowns are also necessary as a sturdy support for dental bridges.

A crown restores your tooth to normal shape, size and strength, and allows it to resume its proper place as a team player with the other teeth.

Karen E Williamson D.D.S., P.A, located at 560 W Ralph Hall Pkwy, Rockwall, TX in Rockwall, Texas 75032, opened their doors in 1993 and has been serving patients throughout Texas with extraordinary efficiency, expertise and personal attention since 1993. You could be our next royal to smile and wave for the paparazzi.

Consult with dentist Williamson to find out if you are a candidate for advanced restorative procedures meant to increase the life of your precious permanent teeth such as a fabulous crown. Keep in mind that crowns come in a variety of strong, reliable materials. Matching the natural color of your teeth increases the beauty of your smile. Gold crowns are incredibly strong and have the “bling” factor. But there are certainly other options.

In addition to restorative services, we would love to talk to you about cleanings, cosmetic services, teeth whitening, braces, veneers, and other smile makeover possibilities.

We are equipped to offer restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, porcelain veneers, and a long list of other procedures. Schedule your visit today with our friendly staff at 469-402-0024.

A crown can return your tooth to all its former glory as a smiling, glowing, expert chewing machine.

Let Your Smile Show Who You Really Are

 smile makeover

Let’s talk about the power of a smile.

A smile communicates your emotions more precisely than words can ever do. The absence of a smile also sends a clear message. But what if you want to smile but the problems with your teeth prevent you? This is a frustrating condition for many Rockwall people both young and old.

You may have a warm and engaging personality, but no one can notice that personality without a smile. If you are often too embarrassed about your teeth to smile, this post is for you.

Do you ever consider how your close-lipped facial expressions affect other people’s perceptions of you? Do you think it’s possible that your demeanor causes people to get the wrong impression? Perhaps they think you are shy, distant, timid, or unhappy. These adjectives are probably completely off-base – but without a smile, it’s hard to tell. Especially when people meet you for the first time.

Do you think your unappealing smile has affected your career? How about your personal relationships? If you are not happy with the way your teeth look, you have probably considered cosmetic dentistry.

This begs the question: “What has prevented you from seeking a smile makeover?” Is it the cost? Fear that it’s going to be painful? Doubts about whether it will really work? Worry that you will have to take work off for several appointments? Maybe you are just too embarrassed to let anyone look in your mouth.

If you are still reading this post, I suspect you are on the fence regarding this life-changing renewal. You can’t make a wise choice unless you have the critical facts, and I want to provide them to you.

Knowledge is power. I invite you to come in for a free, informational smile makeover consultation. I want to communicate with you about all the concerns I mentioned previously and any others you may have. When I complete a smile transformation for someone who has been embarrassed to smile for years, it changes that person’s life. Because of industry-leading procedures, instruments, lab processes, and materials, it’s a great time to be a cosmetic dentist and an even better time to get a smile makeover at Karen E Williamson D.D.S., P.A in Rockwall.

The key to a cosmetic dental smile makeover that transcends what is technically adequate to the type of sensational smile that is greater than the sum of its parts is the proficiency of the dentist. To reach the level of perfection that you deserve, a renowned smile makeover dentist must have the ability to use all these things in combination with rare artistic skills.

Whew! That’s a lot of words. And, as mentioned at the beginning of this post, we know that words cannot convey what a celebrated smile can. Let me show you pictures of Karen E Williamson D.D.S., P.A smile makeover patients. Then you will understand. (After all, a picture is worth – how many words?)

I invite you to call me, dentist Karen Williamson, today at 469-402-0024.

Healthy Living Starts With A Smile

general dentistry Rockwall

What comes to mind when you hear the term “healthy living?” A dinner plate with a grilled chicken breast and carrot sticks? The sound of your feet rhythmically hitting the ground on your favorite jogging trail? A cholesterol test indicating that your arteries are doing great? If you picture a white, healthy smile or a dental X-ray showing no decay, we salute you.

At Karen E Williamson D.D.S., P.A, we urge everyone with a smile (that includes you!) to include oral health in your definition of “healthy living.”

When done correctly and consistently, brushing and flossing are crucial components of everyday oral hygiene. Brushing should be done at least twice a day. We recommend a soft-bristled toothbrush to protect your gums. Brush your teeth in small, circular motions for 2-3 minutes, and be sure you reach all the surfaces.

Flossing should be done once a day and is necessary for reaching the areas where a toothbrush cannot. A wide variety of floss can be found at Rockwall stores, so experiment until finding one you like.

I’m dentist Karen Williamson of Karen E Williamson D.D.S., P.A. As a healthcare provider, I am passionate about helping each of my patients reap the benefits of oral health and avoid tooth woes that can compromise their all-around health.

And just as some healthcare providers offer cosmetic procedures, I also serve you with services that improve the aesthetics of your smile. Ask us about porcelain veneers, dental implants, invisible braces, white fillings, inlays/onlays and same-day teeth whitening. For more information, call Karen E Williamson D.D.S., P.A today at 469-402-0024 or visit http://www.karenwilliamsondds.com/.

Which Type of Toothbrush is Best?

Toothbrush Wars in Rockwall

It may surprise you to know that some individuals have very strong opinions about which type of toothbrush is the best: manual or electric. Is there really one that is clearly better?

Most dentists will tell you that all toothbrushes, when used properly, are effective at removing plaque. Choosing which kind you prefer is really up to you.

Today, we want to give you some extra information about toothbrushes to help you select which kind is right for you or your child.

You need to consider cost and convenience.
Some people argue that even though electric toothbrushes are more expensive, you’ll save on dental bills. However, there are no definitive studies to back up this claim.

Manual toothbrushes are easy to find, whereas not all drugstores carry all types of electric toothbrushes. This can be difficult when buying replacement heads. People who travel may find that a smaller, manual toothbrush is easier to pack (and batteries are not necessary).

The pressure you put on your gums with either type of toothbrush is important. Some people say that it’s difficult to know how much pressure they use with electric toothbrushes, while others say that because of the quick electrical movements, they tend to be more gentle on their gums than when they use manual brushes. You may want to try them both to identify your brushing style. Then you can discuss it with your dentist.

Special consideration should be taken for men and women with arthritis. Most dentists guide their elderly and arthritic patients to use electric toothbrushes when their manual dexterity is diminished. As for children, once they are old enough, an electric toothbrush may be preferable, but safety should always be the first concern of parents.

Whichever type of toothbrush you choose, make sure you get soft bristles and replace it every three to four months.

I’m dentist Karen Williamson, and I want to thank you for visiting my dental blog.
